EU migrants crisis: UN calls for strategy to treat refugee influx

Aug.26, New York: United Nation calls for European countries response to deal with influx of refugees. It is estimated that 3,000 refugees are crossing into Macedonia daily to enter European countries.

The UN’s High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) spokesperson Melissa Fleming said in a press conference in Geneva that European countries needs to create strategy to deal with massive influx of refugees in the European countries.

She has called for the equitable redistribution of refugees across EU and support Greece, Macedonia and Serbia.

“It’s vital that these people are treated humanely, also that essential assistance is provided, not just by responding to their basic needs but respecting also their dignity, their human rights as asylum seekers and migrants,” Melissa said.
